Special Elvis Poems

Here are a few poems written for Elvis
I would like to share these beautiful words with you as they were shared with my out of Love for Elvis

Untitled:2008

On Aug 16, 1977 the music stopped,

Everyone listened as our hearts dropped,
"No, it can't be true"
Although everyone knew

The King has left us today
For a place that seems so far away,

Now he lives with God's sweet Angels in Heaven

In the year 1977

One glorious day If God says we may

Elvis will be with us again

Until we meet on that beautiful shore

We'll love you forever more.

Anniversary Declaration

We, a world-wide nation of Elvis Presley fans hold these truths to be self evident: Never in the history of popular music has one man shown so much versatility in the expression of song. Furthermore no individual singer has so dominated the imagination of the global population to such an extent, that 30 years after his death, his name is still used as the standard all entertainers use to measure their own success. Elvis, as he is fondly remembered by hundreds of millions, continues to appeal to generations born since his untimely passing. His recordings still sell by the million and more than a thousand books have been written about all aspects of his phenomenal life and his continuing, albeit posthumous, career. Never in the history of popular music has an entertainer been so cruelly denigrated by so many scribblers with nothing but malice in their ink. Yet in spite of their constant jibes, Elvis Presley remains the paramount figure in the world of entertainment and continues to touch the lives of countless millions. We his beholden fans no longer need to cringe at the gratuitous and facetious comments made by certain media presenters and their ilk, for no matter what they in their ignorance say, we know Elvis Presley was the finest ever popular singer - a man of extreme generosity of spirit, and even considering his failings, he was still a far superior human being when compared to his mediocre detractors- comparatively few as they are! Wherever there are discerning ears, eyes to appreciate beauty, an ability to discriminate and minds open to reason, you will find fans of the late, and sadly missed, Elvis Presley. Elvis in all his extravagance, flamboyance, and zest for life did what none of the other singers quite managed to achieve. Like Andrew Lloyd Webber was heard to say on a bbc radio show, "Elvis Presley brightened up the world". Now having topped the majority of recent polls put out by world's media, Elvis Presley remains the most important name in popular music -an undeniable fact.

"O death where is thy sting, Thirty years dead, and I'm still the King!" ~(Sir Ronald Ross 1857-1932)

The Golden Day

January 8, 1935, Behold! Now the dream doth come,
In the form of a tiny infant, the dream has begun.
A dream of beauty..of songs unsung,
A dream of happiness and peace of mind,
A dream of love that would forever bind,
Our hearts and souls in ecstasy so pure,
That the dream would last...would forever endure.
On this day icicles glistened like the star of long ago,
Around the little house at the end of the row.
The day was bitter cold and would end with grief
Because a little "Prince's'" life would be very brief.
But at the same time a "King" was born to us
Whose name, life and voice would become synonymous With music, laughter, kindness, humility, understanding and love;
Anything less from him was totally unheard of..
January 8, 1935, gives us reason to celebrate
As his life of sharing and caring we can never overrate.
It was 50 years ago today that his heart began to sing,
So let the horns blow, the cymbals clang, the drums beat and bells ring.
Fly the banners, bake the cakes and let us join together
To give thanks for the birth of one who was unlike any other..

Happy Golden Anniversary dear, beloved friend,
Our gift to you, Elvis AaronPresley, is Love without end.

We'll Be Yours Throughout The Years

Dear Elvis,

We were yours the first time that
We ever saw your face
Your fans have followed all the years
You went from place to place.

We were yours to hold and keep
We have loved you every day
And even when you had to go
The love continues on this day!

We were yours for you to cherish
And you did that job so well
You gave us so much happiness

More than we could ever tell!

Although 25 years have passed
Since the time you last performed
We've been yours throughout the years
To love you...not to mourn.

And we'll be yours through all the years
That the future holds in store

Our love will never die
It will only grow some more!

On that fateful day, August 16, 1977
His voice was silenced forever
The King was sent to heaven
In his short life of only 42 years
He touched so many
His death brought us so many tears
The void that was left, when he slipped away
Tears at my heart every hour of every day
He was so unique, one of a kind
To replace him would be impossible
The pain that is felt
When you think that he is gone
Is a pain like no other
His was the voice of an angel
So tender and so true
He seemed bigger than it all
Larger than fame so much more than celebrity
He had his share of faults
But had more than his share of talent
A charismatic soul, a beautiful man
There will never be another like him
There never could be
The world lost someone special that day
But his legacy will be forever kept alive
By the millions that love him

We all miss you Elvis

The Sounds Of August

On August 16, 1977, we heard some things we had never heard before....
The sound of a tear as it rolled down our cheeks, falling gently to the floor.

The sound of eyelids closing in disbelief,
And pulses rushing, seeking relief.
We heard the earth stop: its rotation ceased;
The shock, felt to its core, could not be released.
We heard hands clasp in anger at the injustice of it all...
We heard our youth silently slip away as night began to fall.
We heard the sound of the future crashing around us; it had no place to go,
And we heard the sound of the heat as it crept in to wet our brow and forbid the coming snow.
The sound of hearts breaking was that of a worldwide thunderstorm,
As we also heard the voice, that spoke, saying the news had been confirmed.
We heard our souls as they cried out: "Please, God, don't let it be true".

We heard our hurt as we clinged to each other, you to me and me to you.
We heard the leaves from the Graceland Trees as they settled softly to the ground..
And listened as the wind whispered, "He is no longer earthbound,
but, free as I, a prisoner no more;

as he walks in the golden light on God's celestial shore".
For we have heard the sound of Death as it crashed through the mansion walls
Waiting and shouting for the world to know he had come for the greatest of us all.
We heard the dark cloud as it slid through the morning mist
As if, arrogantly, saying; "How dare you deny I exist".
All these things we heard: in memory hearing still
Reminding us our dreams of forever can never be fulfilled.
But, we also hear the silenced voice, so precious, so sweet, so dear;
For the sounds of Elvis Presley, now as before, will forever be near.

"His death gave eternal life to a day: August 16, 1977"

Tribute to Elvis

On the sixteenth of August in Nineteen Seventy Seven
At the age of forty two a man was sent to heaven
The man he was the greatest that you have ever seen
No one will ever take his place or ever has there been
He was the King of Rock n Roll, the King of ballads too
No one will ever take his place ,no one will ever do
He has ten million followers and all of them are true
He was a living legend a thing thats hard to do
For twenty two years he was the man the world all loved the best
The son of a poor drifter who came from America's west
A driver who had a singing voice, and a pair of swaying hips
The songs he sung were so good they stuck right to your lips
And now they try and ruin his name and all the good he had done
Oh please God make them leave him alone
He will always be our,,,,,,,,,,, Number One

The Bell Has Tolled

His music rang throughout the world;
It made hearts sing, it made heads swirl.
He gave us love as no one else can,
He made us feel alive in a way we couldn’t understand.
We never tried to analyze the man with the mystique;
The man with the power to hold us at our highest peak.
His reign was one described as supreme;
Now, thnking back, it seems like a magnificent dream.
Nothing lasts forever, it has been said,
Whether it be good, or whether it be bad.
A kiss is good, only while it lasts,
For in only seconds it is a thing of the past.
Youth is gone in the wink of an eye,
Just as the clouds disappear from the sky.

The morning dew sparkles like diamonds upon the grass,
But in no time at all it loses its class.
The beautiful new fallen snow looks so lush,

And in only ours it has turned to slush,

One thing we know will last, is our love the King of Rock N’ Roll

Now and forever more – even though for him the bell has tolled.
